Client Testimonials

“The Piscataquog Land Conservancy contracted with Northeast Conservation Services to develop a state of the art, data-driven land conservation plan for our 26-town service area in southern New Hampshire. The finished plan identifies specific areas with the highest conservation value in our region, and corridors connecting them for wildlife and people. Pete Steckler of NCS took the time to make sure the plan reflected both the latest GIS data and processing techniques, and real-world on the ground conditions. NCS also delivered an interactive online viewer in lieu of static maps, which makes the plan a much more useful tool for quick “triaging” of potential conservation projects and will hopefully be more engaging for a wider audience. NCS was a pleasure to work with and delivered the project on time and on budget. We highly recommend them.”

-Chris Wells, Executive Director, Piscataquog Land Conservancy

"Northeast Conservation Services completed a Management Plan for a recent land acquisition that was funded, in part, by the Aquatic Resource Mitigation Fund. One of the ARM Fund’s requirements was a detailed Management Plan for the property, following a specific format that was beyond the ability of the all-volunteer Atkinson Conservation Commission. The Plan included a detailed “current conditions” section with maps and photos, a review of the land’s history, and objectives for its future stewardship. The report’s clarity and detail far exceeded our expectations, and was produced on time and on budget."

-Paul Wainwright, Chair,
Atkinson Conservation Commission

"Working with Northeast Conservation Services consistently exceeds my expectations. The Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve at NH Fish and Game has worked closely with Northeast Conservation Services to develop a web viewer for a data rich saltmarsh geospatial analysis, to offer technical assistance on conservation planning, and to update mapping products to inform land protection efforts. As a local expert in conservation and restoration planning with extensive technical skills, Pete Steckler can be trusted with both the science and the process. Pete  is also an excellent project manager. He makes sure that deliverables and schedules are clear, that decisions are communicated clearly and incorporated into project work, he is an excellent writer, and his work is done on time and within budget."

-Cory Riley, Manager, Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve

"Peter was an advisor to the preliminary design of a critter-friendly culvert between two of Atkinson’s prime wetlands. The culvert needs replacement, and our objective was to include the option, contingent on funding, of using a design that would allow turtles and other wildlife to safely cross from one wetland to the other. Pete researched correspondence from the Town Engineer, performed a detailed on-site study, and produced a report with several optional designs for us to consider. As before, his report was on time and on budget, and exceeded our expectations for detail and clarity."

-Paul Wainwright, Chair,
Atkinson Conservation Commission

"The Great Bay Stewards has contracted with Northeast Conservation Services (NCS) on several projects over the past two years and our organization has been tremendously impressed by the firm's professionalism, the quality of its technical work, and the skill at managing people and complex projects. For example, NCS worked with the Stewards to develop a complete overhaul of an outdated printed map of coastal access sites in New Hampshire. NCS painstakingly gathered all the necessary data layers, consulted with over 50 landowners to ensure accuracy of the information, and created a beautiful and accessible new design for the map. Throughout the process, Pete Steckler and his team thoughtfully and efficiently managed this complex project, consulting with us regularly and adapting the timeline and process a few times as needed. The iterative process paid off and we are thrilled with the final product!"
